“My therapeutic philosophy is existential in nature, that is, a belief that people fall into despair as a result of the inevitable confrontation with the harsh reality of human existence. These may include any of the ultimate human concerns: death, isolation, meaning in life, physical pain or freedom. This, in combination with a person’s inner struggles resulting from past experiences and relationships, makes it vital to focus on both the content of the issues as well as the process of the therapeutic interface between a person and his/her therapist. My therapeutic approach is a dynamic synthesis of numerous therapeutic modalities such as cognitive behavioral, family systems, dialectical behavioral and reality (insight) therapy, combined with careful attention to what is happening interpersonally in the therapy setting as well as with others, while encouraging personal empowerment toward wellness. I am particularly interested in issues surrounding mid-life through aging such as care giving, depression, anxiety, life transitions, grief, adult ADHD, gender issues and pain self management.”
Insurance accepted and sliding scale fees are available.
