“I believe that people fall into despair as a result of the inevitable confrontation with harsh realities of human existence. These may include any crucial human concerns: death, isolation, meaning in life, physical pain, freedom, family-of-origin struggles, security or relationships. I travel the journey of your self discovery with you.”
The first step toward conquering some of life’s curve balls is to assess your self-efficacy, that is, your belief in your own ability and motivation to change. Emotional healing takes place when a person feels empowered enough to recognize the liberating effect of exposing one’s vulnerabilities in a safe and trusting relationship. While the content of a person’s narrative provides information and context, it is the trusting relationship and the process of the therapeutic interface between a person and his/her therapist that truly promotes change.
My therapeutic approach is a strengths based dynamic synthesis of numerous therapeutic interventions such as cognitive behavioral, family systems, dialectical behavioral and reality (insight) therapy, using the bio-psychosocial model. I am particularly interested in issues surrounding mid-life through aging such as care giving, depression, anxiety, life transitions, grief, adult ADHD, gender issues, pain self management, and group work.”
