Dawn Sanders is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate who graduated with her Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Counseling from Western Seminary/Mars Hill Graduate School in 1999. She has 11 years experience working with Americans, European nationals and North Americans living abroad. Dawn lived with her husband and children in Italy for over 9 years. Speaking both English and Italian fluently, her bi-cultural experience proves to be advantageous working with adults who were raised in culturally diverse homes. Having grown up in Cary, North Carolina, Dawn also enjoys working with those who presently call the Research Triangle area home.
Dawn’s therapeutic approach is eclectic, meaning she draws on, but is not limited to several theoretical orientations during her counseling sessions. The majority of her work is centered on Psychodynamic, Person Centered and Cognitive Behavioral theories. Some techniques used in counseling are reflective listening, discovering irrational beliefs, evaluating self-talk, identifying cause and effect relationships, examining choices, setting goals and reframing.
